"It's all...c-coming apart. Find her. W-w-won't you?

Kaldwin is the clan's first (and probably only) Corvus dragon. She resides permanently in the asylum, and is taken care of by Eidotheia. Her wings, a shade of dark blue, is an indication of her insatiable hunger. The imperial is unbelievably bad-tempered, and the only familiar who could stand her was a quiet, patient Dwarf Truffle. No one knows where she came from; all Eidotheia can gleam from her snarling and drooling is that someone had tried to assassinate her, and had, somehow, succeeded. This was not her body. Her mad ravings had revealed something about an ocean deity (with eyes that were black, black, black.), a clockwork heart-her heart, and something about a dragon named Corvo. It was clear that she had had a lover and a daughter once, but the state of her mind was no indication of whether or not she was telling the truth. After her trip to the Clan of the Crystal Flight, she came back with several crates of tea (courtesy of Lakshmi, a former member of the Clan of Rattling Bone) and a slightly better attitude.

Kaldwin serves as a sort of last resort to the defense of the clan. Nyx is probably the only one who can communicate with her, aside from Eidotheia, of course. However, one of the clan's recent arrivals, Velum, seems perfectly capable of holding conversations with her, though he's still fairly puzzled by the gibberish that she mutters and shrieks. Metis and Diamondust get along rather well with her but Epimetheus treads a little more carefully around Kaldwin. He still hasn't forgotten about how she'd very nearly killed him. Of course, no dragon in the clan is brave enough to befriend her, much less mate with her, so Kaldwin remains single. For now.

"A rabid creature, bloodshot eyes and foaming at the mouth. Make haste-", was Epimetheus' scrawled and bloody message to the clan.

Nyx knew the tundra dragon and he could handle his foes well, so something was afoot. She and Heracles, accompanied by Diamondust, flew to where Epimetheus usually patrolled. They found him in a pool of blood, a ghastly looking Imperial circling around him, snapping its jaws and whipping its head from side to side. And was it... Salivating? Clearly hungry and very, very mad. She lunged at him the same time Diamondust sprung into action. Claw met claw as she wrestled the imperial to the ground. Heracles carried Epimetheus back to the clan while Diamondust attempted to rip apart the imperial. Diamondust fought with a rage that surprised even Nyx. Under her helmet her eyes blazed a brilliant purple as she punctuated her strikes with bolts of Shadow magic. Her mate had almost been killed by this...thing. No wonder she wanted revenge.

Something was off about this dragon. No words were exchanged, only snarls came out from her mouth. She seemed almost mindless, constantly trying to sink her fangs into Diamondust. But her teeth and razor-sharp claws met with nothing but hard armour. The two were matched equally in strength but the imperial itself seemed to be growing in strength, as its strikes quickening and the angry screeches it released increasing in volume. It was clear how much of a threat it was still was, and it didn't hesitate to remind the guardian of that, when it tore open a gash on her foreleg.

Nyx, who had been standing back, knew that Diamondust wanted a one-on-one, fair and square, but her eyes suddenly widened as realization hit her and she swooped and knocked Diamondust out of the way.

"Get out of here! It's a Corvus! Get Metis, go!" Nyx roared.

Diamondust backed down after sensing the urgency in Nyx's tone, casting a worried glance at the mirror and taking to the skies.

Metis arrived to the scene mere minutes later. She cast a few runes and spells on the Corvus to subdue it, then beckoned for Diamondust to take it down. The Skydancer then dragged the barely alive Nyx to safety.

"All we gotta do is just feed her some meat and send her on her way, right? By the looks of her wings, she's just hungry." Nyx said

Metis narrowed her eyes," No, more than hungry. Have you seen the look in her eyes?"

"Oh Plaguebringer, you really did it this time..." Nyx muttered.

They stared at the nightmare Corvus, struggling against her bonds, glaring at them with a bloodlust that sent shivers even down Nyx's spine.

As much as she despised the half-breed Corvus species, Nyx did feel slightly sorry for it.

"We're taking this mindless lump back to the clan." she decided, turning to her two companions. Diamondust merely nodded, though Métis was a little more skeptical.

"You know Eidotheia will have a fit. What's the point?" The shaman asked, tilting her head questioningly.

"Well, better late than never to start an asylum. Besides, any other dragon would have killed her long ago. Or she, them. She's a survivor, Metis. There's no denying that." Nyx replied, glancing at the Corvus.

"Fine then. I'll do what I can but don't blame me if things go wrong." Metis rolled her eyes (or rather, Nyx suspected that she had rolled her eyes. It was hard to tell under that birdskull mask she always wore. The mirror wore one too for the exact same reason).

Diamondust, Métis and Nyx hauled the imperial back to the clan, and the three groaned from the weight of it.

"' As we spread, we will thrive,' " quipped Metis.

And it was said in such a deadpan voice that not even Nyx could tell if she was being sarcastic.

"Don't suppose you have a name, dear?" Nyx asked the imperial, sarcasm dripping from her voice.

"K-K-Ka-Ka....Kkkkaallld....Kallll...Kkalldwiinnnn....." It sneered back.

Nyx raised an eyebrow. "Well what do you know? It talks,"

"Quit being rude," Diamondust mumbled, as she grunted under the weight of the Corvus. [/i]
