Lunaire

Lunaire was the child who shouldn’t have survived. She was sickly, weak, and had a wracking cough that shook her until she trembled. Desperate to save the life of her daughter, Lunaire’s mother, Zelda, returned to her homeland to plea before her own deity, the Shadowbinder. The Lady of Darkness couldn’t completely take away the sickness, but was able to alter Lunaire’s elemental allegiance. Ice magic, as she had been born with, would have destroyed the child, freezing her very bones, but in Shadow magic the young dragon found strength. With it she became a wielder of the night itself, able to control twisted thorns and briars at will. It does have its limits, as her powers are significantly weakened in direct sunlight, so she’s much more comfortable staying in the shadows, where she is better able to defend herself.

When Lunaire is threatened she will take any measures necessary to fight back, and will not hesitate to fight dirty when it comes to matters of survival. She knows how much it took to earn her right to life, and would never dishonor the Shadowbinder by squandering it. She knows her goddess would probably even appreciate the crafty tricks she uses to win. She’s not at all malevolent, though most of the young dragons tend to avoid her, thinking her strange, and unsettled by her telltale raspy breathing. Maisha is one of the few who has truly gotten to know her, falling in love with her cat-like grace and quiet strength. Lunaire doesn’t mind the seclusion; she doesn’t speak much, and finds him to be one of the only ones worth talking to anyway.
