Thorn

One of Clan Chaos Star's most powerful warriors, Thorn play their cards close to their chest. They were born in the Plaguelands by the edge of the Wyrmwound, much like others of their breed, but lived life as a roaming mercenary for many years. With this job, they saw almost every region of Sornieth and returned with the battle scars to show for it.

Though some Aberration pairs have each member go by different names, Thorn prefer to use a single name. Their left head does all the talking for the both of them; their right head is nonverbal. The pair work together with grace and precision.

Eventually Thorn returned to the Abiding Boneyard where they were born, only to find their former clan had dispersed. A new clan – Chaos Star – had taken over the territory they had once called their own. Thorn flew in a rage to where the Chaos Star dragons had camped, intending to enact revenge. They were met by one of the few dragons with combat skills to match their own -- Reaper. Reaper and Thorn fought each other to a standstill. At last, both dragons were exhausted.

"The Plaguebringer calls upon us to respect a worthy enemy," said Ashtoreth from the sidelines. None of the Chaos Star dragons had interfered, for this was Reaper's fight. "What is your name?"

Thorn told them their name and explained their purpose. Ashtoreth gave them a sharp look.

"We are newly come to this territory. We took it from a Mirror pack; no Aberrations were there. Your old clan is long gone. We are not your enemies."

Thorn thought for a long moment. Finally, they said, "Then perhaps you might be our friends. It would be foolish of us to travel alone in the Boneyard. We could use a clan to watch our back while we search for our own family. And we will serve you as a guard and protector until we find them." This was one of the longest speeches they had made in years.

Ashtoreth and Reaper exchanged a glance, then both nodded. "Welcome, Thorn, to Clan Chaos Star."


Thorn never did find their own family, though not through lack of trying. They searched up and down the Wasteland to no avail. Finally, they admitted that the clan of their birth was truly gone -- dispersed or fled or dead, no one could tell. Yet throughout the time of the search, Thorn had, almost despite themselves, become close to the Chaos Star dragons. Eventually they found themselves thinking of their adoptive clan as their new home. So it was willingly, if slightly reluctantly, that Thorn agreed to accompany them to the Sunbeam Ruins. They continue to serve as guardian, warrior, and lookout for Chaos Star, and sometimes even for the Sunforger Clan.
