"Sunbeam Ruins"

Clan Diamond Dust led a large search for a Light Priestess to join their clan, contacting Light clans whose dragons had nests hatching during the Jubilee and desired for their hatchlings to travel as a Light ambassador. The clan leaders were super picky and rejected a number of bright sparkling representatives that would have made fine priestesses/ambassdors. Finally, they selected Dawn - although she wasn't as glittery as they intended, she had many of the qualities they were looking for.

Although not an official subspecies, clan leaders took to calling her coloring "Sunbeam Ruins" in honor of the Light lands - her primary represented the monuments and stone ruins dotting the territory with secondary representing the shimmering light. Finally, her tertiary was the sun's beans shining on the land. With her entry to the clan, the clan leaders also selected a similar dragon to present the sunset and began a search for two counterparts for night.

Given the fierce competition for the priestess spot, she was generally humble and grateful for being selected. However, she tended not to get along with her priest counterpart, who joined the clan a year later. When the clan finally achieved its goal of having a coveted Light Sprite join the clan, Dawn was naturally selected as its companion. Naturally, many of the other Light dragons in the clan were jealous, although most grudgingly admitted it made the most sense for her to have it.

As the Light Priestess & Ambassador, she advises the clan on issues related to her homeland and greets visitors from clans living there.

Joining the Clan

Two sisters, a Skydancer and a Spiral, stared at the young dragon.

Willow finally asked, "Wasn't our Light Rep supposed to be... sparkly? Glittery? Shiny?"

They looked at the hatchling dubiously. "And... pretty sure that's a Coatl, not a Pearlcatcher."

Sleet ran up quickly, "No, no - she's a Pearlcatcher. Or will be soon. Don't worry about it." He hovered nervously, weight shifting back and forth on his feet.

"Is that Iri/Shim/Smoke, again? I thought our clan leaders specifically didn't want that combination."

"Ummm..." Sleet glanced at the hatchling, then drew the two others away. "Look - I tried to find what they wanted. But Fairlady was never happy with the way the light bounced off the Pearlcatcher's golden facet wings. 'Too dark,' she says. 'Why isn't it pretty and shiny like the other breeds? No, no, we MUST have a Pearlcatcher this time.' I ran every combination of yellow or gold or orange facet past them and all were met with a resounding 'No.' Heck, I even brought that Nocturne back with the golden facet wings and... now what am I going to do with her?"

He shook his head. "This is worse than the Wind fiasco, before my time. They gave me my job to avoid this very thing."
