Kashim
The Pack
Personality
Kashim is a strange one. He doesn't behave much like a Mirror - He's far too talkative, often just sharing his thoughts with whomever happens to be nearby for no particular reason, accompanied by the constant restless twitching of his entire body, his wings rustling and his tail wiping back and forth erratically. It's a far cry from how most Mirror's appear - the silent, deadly hunters with careful, controlled movements who would never waste time wondering out loud about what would happen if you tried to combine fire magic with water magic, would it just boil over and burn you or would the two would cancel each other out? Not that Kashim can't be still and silent when he needs to be - he's a fairly proficient hunter - but it makes his skin itch and his head fills with noise that doesn't have anywhere to go. Talking makes it quiet, for a while. He can sometimes struggle to get along with other dragons, especially other Mirror's, who viewed his odd mannerisms with suspicion and annoyance - both his constant talk and his constant movements were often read as a sign of a deceitful, untrustworthy nature.
While he loathes violence and does his best to avoid physical conflict - a very strange trait for a Mirror, one which is looked down upon pretty heavily by his peers - he shows surprisingly little consideration for his own life, and when it comes down to it he will leap into an oncoming blow to shield a packmate without a second thought. Largely though, he relies on his silver tongue and razor-sharp mind to get himself out of trouble before it begins, but since he's actually better at getting himself into trouble that way, he makes good use of magic tricks to give himself the advantage - he's very good at distraction and misdirection, and during a hunt he can often be heard yelling taunts at his opponents, darting in close and attracting their attention away from the rest of the pack - but when the poor creature swipes at the dark shape dancing in the corner of his eye, driving it mad, it's claws will meet nothing but air and it'll be left vulnerable to the rest of the pack.
He greatly enjoys games, but perhaps not the same kind as the rest of his pack - they mostly involve mind tricks of some kind, making his chosen victim confused and frustrated until they realise they're being messed with, sometimes just straight up baiting someone into a fit of rage for his own amusement - Fallion will just sit on him if he goes to far, but he usually knows the limits (Besides, it is actually funny when you're not the target). Sometime he uses this behaviour to hide when he's feeling uncomfortable or insecure - on more infrequent occasions he is also prone to fits of extreme anxiety and dark, self-destructive moods. Luckily Fallion generally knows how to break him out of it, or keep him together until he comes out of it himself. He tends to be far more reckless when he's like this, and can put himself in danger if he's not watched.
History
Kashim was born in the Starwood Strand to a pair of Water dragons, the only surviving egg of his clutch. A true Arcane dragon, deeply curious and fascinated by the mysteries of their world, but he's always been overly sensitive to the Elements - not just to Arcane, though the constant pressure of it did eventually drive him from his home, but of all Elements. This makes travelling a hazard, as each region affects his mind in different ways - Plague was the worst; It crept up his limbs as he ran, slowing them, trying to disorient him and force him towards the centre of the diseased landscape. He got out of their as fast as he could, not sleeping for days until he'd finally reach Shadow. If he stopped, it would consume him, burn him up from the inside and leave nothing but a living shell. It clung to him even at he left, tugging him back. His Water heritage affected him too - he was too much Arcane to develop true Sight, but he had an uncanny ability to sense danger, and can occasionally predict minor events days in advance.
Shadow was his sanctuary, and he learned many tricks during his time there. With practise he even managed to imitate the abilities of Shadow mages - though anyone sensitive enough would recognise the light prickling heat of Arcane rather than the solid, cloying feeling of Shadow, but it was a good imitation nonetheless. He's still trying to get a handle on Lightning - it's more constant and yet somehow distant then any of the places he's lived before.
It took a long time for Kashim to really be accepted by the pack - but he's since developed close relationships with all his packmates (some more obviously than others...). He can usually be found wherever Fallion is, often a step or two behind like a shadow - most of the time he's chatting away loudly, but he also has ways of making himself unnoticed until he needs to step in. Part bodyguard, part jester.
