Biography

Endymion
Main oracle, problematic authority

Endymion is supposed to be some kind of authority in the lair: a dragon that can be reached for advice when it's needed at any time, a reliable guide and example. This, at least, is what things should be like in theory, because in fact Endymion is one of the most secluded and unapproachable dragons in the lair. He speaks in low, growling whispers, and the way he expresses himself often sounds more similar to some kind of riddle than a normal phrase to communicate with others. He spends most of his time alone in his den and doesn't participate in social events and activities.
Endymion is actually just kind of shy, and not the best fit to be a leader or anyone's representative, at all, but most dragons mistake his nervousness and unease for anger and annoyance. His articulated way to express himself comes from his large time spent reading books and ancient documents, as opposed to actually talking to other dragons, and also from his visions of the future. He's also very, very secretive about himself. He's a Guardian without a Charge, at least not yet, and he finds this fact very shameful to confess in front of other Guardians who are much younger and fulfilled in that regard.
The dragons he actually interacts with the most are other Water dragons who join the clan, in hopes of finding one who will be suitable to be the new Water representative.
His ability to see the future is powerful, but is also what put him and the rest of the Clan in trouble the most, which is why others have long since stopped asking for prophecies and readings; Endymion himself avoids revealing anything most of the time even when he's asked and he'd rather handle things on his own rather than say too much.
Sheeba has been his mate for years. They might be very different from each other, but they're madly in love and will act lovey-dovey at every chance they get. The rare times when Sheeba is in trouble are also the rare instances when Endymion becomes the scariest.

Endymion was born from an unhatched egg that Eaqui found by chance. His origins are possibly the most mysterious and the most subject to debate since he was born, mostly because of his abilities: he has always been able to see the future.
The great interest in his powers turned Endymion into a quiet and introverted dragon since youth. Tafeirinmen, who took care of him the most as he grew up, was able to filter out the unwanted attention he would get, but as he grew up Endymion was forced to learn to handle such matters on his own.
As Endymion couldn't find his Charge, he considered multiple times the possibility of leaving the lair and start his Search, but his encounter with Sheeba and her strong need to live in a big community convinced him to stay longer and try to make things work. The structure of the clan at the time was still very fragile and messy, which also made him hesitant to leave the dragons he considered as his own family.
One day, as he focused his powers at the best of his abilities, Endymion had a vision of Guardian dragons leading the clan to a new, glorious era. This event had a major role in the establishment of the Quadrumviratum. Endymion really didn't want to become one of the new leaders, but he eventually accepted the role: he thought that it would be better to hold himself accountable for the vision he chose to share, rather than pretend he wasn't involved.
From there, things only started to get worse over time. The leaders being all Guardians didn't mean that they all had the same ideals in mind, and their strong personalities sometimes made them blind to the needs of the dragons living in the lair. Endymion was also pestered by visions of a Guardian leader betraying another, which welcomed more suspicion and lack of trust among them.
When the Quadrumviratum lost its influence for good and Fereneel rose to power with Duariah, Endymion felt relieved, but he couldn't help feeling guilty for how things turned out. He felt that, by relying so much on his visions and by trying so hard to avoid the worst outcomes, he somehow made everything turn for the worst. Sheol and Deneve left the Clan for good, and Endymion was seriously considering to do the same once more.
A new vision, then, revealed to him that Duariah was the traitor all along. In a last attempt to help his native Clan, Endymion supported Fereneel in chasing him and his close following away.
Thankful for the help, Fereneel allowed Endymion to stay in the Clan, but made it clear that Endymion would not be allowed to keep the same power as he used to: his only official task was to look for a worthy Water representative for Janus Ashes. For some time, he was also completely forbidden to reveal any of his visions to anyone.
Nowadays, Endymion lives much more peacefully. He dedicates most of his time to look for the new Water representative, and the lack of bigger responsibilities is nothing but a weight off his shoulders.
His Charge, however, is still nowhere to be seen, and at this point Endymion is starting to doubt he'll ever have one.
