Once a simple clan member in the leader's family, Gears has become so much more than what she once was. In her early days as a still-young dragon, her time was spent making trouble for the members of the clan older than her. Though Merric loved her and she loved him, their relationship was that of an adult brother and a child sister. She was carefree, and caring, and cheery.

As years passed and Sunfalle grew in size and strength, Gears found that she had to change to reflect the clan as well. Gone were her days of simply having fun gathering plants and pestering others with questions - now, rather, she found herself the adult dragon that newcomers came to for help and comfort.

At first, it was difficult not to resent this change. Her life had been so much easier before, when there was no one looking to her for words of wisdom, and now that she held real responsibilities there was far less time to enjoy her childish pastimes. Yet it began, slowly, to fill her with a sense of purpose. As time passed, Gears learned that she much preferred to be needed rather than to be free to go off on her own where no one would ask her questions.

There were times when life was hard on the clan, and Gears always tried to be there for dragons when things happened - even the dragons she could not quite bring herself to care for as deeply as she knew she should have. Her relationship with Merric matured as they did, and he put his trust in her to handle things as she saw fit.

The attack by Eclypse was a terrible shock, and a terrible time for Gears upon realizing that her brother was no longer capable of leading Sunfalle. Many dragons begged her to step up and take his place, but she had never been the type to lead, only to support, and so she resigned herself to keeping an eye on Anamika.

Secunda’s leadership is a refreshing change. Gears was the first to voice her support for the imperial even with her old friend Kolene raging against the idea; despite all that Secunda had done to threaten Sunfalle’s peace, in the end, she overcame her troubles and grew confident enough to lead the clan.

Nowadays, Gears finds herself less interested in meddling in the affairs of the clan’s leadership. She has faith in those in charge, and she feels it may finally be time for her to officially retire alongside her older brother and live out her days in peace.
