Biography

Oscar_Scarfsickle.gif
By; Scarfsickle
Oscar's father, Updraft, wanted a son. He wanted a male mirror with whom he could do all the things male mirror fathers and sons did. A son with whom he could fight over nice juicy meat, a son with whom they could go hunting for females ready to breed, a son who would tail-wrestle with him… he had plans. He picked an egg out and said that this mirror - the one who hatched from this very egg - would be his beloved son, the one to whom he would teach everything and with whom he would do everything. He stayed up night and day, watching this little egg, waiting for it to hatch. When the egg began to crack, he called all his friends over: "Come, come! Come see! My son is about to be born."
As the baby mirror's nose poked out of the egg, he grinned. "Look at his strength - see how well he breaks that shell? That's my boy." That pride turned to heartbreak when moments later, he realized a shocking truth: his little mirror, despite the masculine colors and the strong teeth, was a girl. He stood, statuesque, frozen by a mix of disappointment and shame. 'How could I have been so stupid?' he asked himself as his friends began to jeer, teasing the new father. "So, what will you name him?" one of his friends asked.Updraft looked down at the baby mirror girl, who was looking up at him with eyes full of adoration, and said, "Oscar." "But that's a name for a son," his friends argued but Updraft would not hear of it. Stubbornly, he declared: "She was supposed to be a son so she'll be a son. Her name will be Oscar and she'll be more of a male than any of your sons." Oscar_Userof_Shadows.png

So it was. Oscar was raised as a male mirror, taught to fight from the moment she took her first steps and taught everything that made a male mirror. She spit like a male, she stomped like a male, she hissed like a male. From the very start, however, there were problems. Although Oscar admired her father, she would look longingly at the girl mirrors getting dressed up and dancing around. She would hear them singing during her hissing lessons and it would upset her. More than once, she asked her father, "Can't I join them? I am also a gi-," but her father would stop her mid-sentence every time. "You are my son and you will have nothing to do with those girly things."

As she grew older, Oscar learned to hide things from her father. Mostly, pink things. She liked pink feminine garments and would sneak them off and hide them in her special little hiding hole, beneath a big depin skin. She collected bows, woolies, dolls, and a million other little pink things. When no one was watching, she would put on her pink garments and prance around, excited about her treasures.

One day, she met him. Him being Sue. Him being the mirror with the girl's name who would change her life. She had been sent to the Shadowbinder's Host to assist with training mirror warriors. It was while training that she met the handsome Sue. It was love at first sight. Oscar tried every method she could think of to make it clear she wanted to mate with him, using all the mating skills her father had taught her. She lifted her ears and flapped them, she slapped his rear end with her tail, she even bit his neck. He took all this obvious flirting as aggression and hissed at her, demanding to know why she was so intent on attacking him. What had he done to deserve her hostility? It was then that Oscar explained that she was attracted to him, and earned the most puzzled of looks from the male mirror.

Embarrassed, she turned away, telling him that if he was going to be a jerk, she could find a different mate. Sue laughed and grabbed her tail with his, "I don't think that'll be necessary." From that point on, a whirlwind romance began and the two mirrors soon became inseparable. Soon enough, though, the time came for Oscar to return to her own clan. She brought Sue with her, excited to introduce her mate to her father.

It did not go well. Updraft was disturbed by the idea of Oscar, who he had raised as a son all these years, having a male mate. Worse yet, he felt that Sue, the mirror in question, was less masculine than Oscar herself. Oscar, furious with her father, finally just declared: "If you can't accept him, you can't accept me, so I am leaving." This is how Oscar left with Sue and became a member of the Shadowbinder's Host.

Life in her new clan has changed Oscar. These days, although Oscar can still spit further than most males and beat nearly anyone in a tail-wrestling match, she is rarely seen wearing any less than three pinks garments at one time. She loves her newfound freedom and is truly happy for the first time. As for her relationship with her father, Oscar continues to hope that one day, maybe when she sends him a particularly adorable portrait of one of his grandchildren, he will realize the error of his ways. Until then, though, Oscar is content with her life and her mate.
