Biography
Before the Disaster, Hesperos was a self-styled shaman and warden of the world and its spirits. Hr believed there is great power outside of the gods in the presence of some kind of spirits and mystical energies, and as it turned out, he was right, though he never anticipated the results of his dabbling, nor did he wish it. Though several dragons, and Oihanna in particular had expressed concern about his practices and lack of knowledge and expertise, there seemed little actual harm he was doing until more issues began to arise, at which point everyone was too busy. Oihanna kept pressing, and took some steps to mitigate, any damage, which turned out to be important, as Hesperos's magic turned out to be a source from which The Peacekeeper was drawing power, and a deadly force in and of its self.
As the months turned into years, Hesperos began to have nightmares, at first just thrashing and crying, but then escalating until finally flickering lights, shadowy figures, and unearthly screams filled the den he shared with Vellamo and woke all the nearby dragons. For months, the others were not brave enough to even credit, once the sun was up, what they saw and heard at night, let alone mention it. Finally, in the last few weeks before the Disaster, they discovered that they all knew, as sleep had become impossible. They went to Oihanna who began to set up a ritual to cleanse the area completely, but before it was ready (perhaps The Peacekeeper gave events a push), just as the maren began to attack, Hesperos's eyes began to glow, and he was possessed by something. He lashed out at Vellamo, who tried to defend herself without hurting him. Coriander, their daughter, ran in from her room, which was next door, and tried to intervene, but just as she was running in, Hesperos managed to sink his teeth into Vellamo's neck. Immediately, he regained himself, horrified, disorientened, and stunned, he saw his mate's eyes glowing and a haze of multiple colors around her head. She lashed out at their daughter, and Hesperos was too slow to save Coriander. He managed to kill Vellamo though, keeping her from harming the rest of the lair.
Before he had time to do anything with the bodies though, The Peacekeeper appeared in the doorway, and Hesperos was again fighting for his life. The fight led into the hallway, and The Peacekeeper guided it out, to the maren, then disappeared. Consequently, Hesperos found himself in the middle of the fray with the maren, and joined in sealing the peacekeeper after the explosion Darkwing and Steorr created.
And then the imperial had risen. He retreated, and was convinced to leave with the others, as he had sustained several wounds, and it would not help if he died fighting the emperor, only giving it more strength by joining with it.
After the return to the old lair, he found himself growing closer and closer to Noelani, and the two swiftly started relying on eachother, and within a month and a half of the disaster, they had hatched a nest together.
However, he will never forget his daughter Coriander, or his old mate (whom he was forced to kill) Vellamo, and has taken up the latter's mantle and become a storyteller.
