He didn't want to be reminded of his past
or how different his present was from the future he'd taken for granted. Makhai. His name is whispered in fear. Chanted with awe. Said with pride. For who would not be proud to have the great warrior in their clan? Makhai was a legend. He and his colleagues used to go out in the coliseum for fun, searching for something more amusing than their clan duties and chores. He soon became obsessed with it. He'd spent time he used to spend fooling around with his young friends to train. His battles gave him rewards and scars, which he was proud of. The clan leaders recognized his talents and promoted him. This promotion was not enough. Makhai strived for more. He decimated any opponent in his way, at the same time showing respect for those weak and less fortunate. He would use the riches and rewards gained from combat to feed struggling clans. He would guard clans while they recovered from illness or war. Before he knew it, the young imperial was being invited to leave his clan and join an elite unit who fought for the Storm-catcher. Makhai's skills were put to the best, and he soon became revered by his friends and feared by his enemies. He was on his way to becoming a legend, but something tragic happened. Something that would change his life forever. Makhai and his battalion were going into a fierce battle. BeastClan harpies had recently stolen three clans worth of hatchlings and eggs. The attack had been planned, for if they failed the eggs and hatchlings could be killed. Makhai was on the front line. The battle was savage. The harpies, though small compared to the dragons, were numerous and very clever. The dragons had the advantage of surprise, but it was barely enough. Makhai rescued many eggs and killed many harpies, but it made no difference. Talona, the great harpie leader, had rolled the eggs onto a raised cliff and threatened to drop them if the dragons continued their attack. Thousands of unborn dragons would die. In response to the threat, Makhai flew at Talona, pinning her under his talons in one swift move. This brave action was enough to distract the harpies, who flew at the imperial in a swarm. The rest of the battalion were able to rescue the eggs and hatchlings, but at a price. Makhai escaped, but barely. He was barely alive, his wings being nearly cleaved off, one horn broken, and scales and flesh were shredded and torn. The battle haunted Makhai, and he was unable to fight without having visions and nightmares off talons and beaks and feathers and blood surrounding him. He quit the battalion, and now spends his days teaching other dragons how to fight with respect. He and his clan are proud of who he is, but there are some dreams he wishes he could have accomplished.

Makhai joined Aeca Statio after his injury because he saw that they were struggling. He knew they were a fair clan, they had a reputation for equality throughout all of Sornienth. They had recently been attacked by a clan who they had once been allied with, betrayed by one of their own. With Makhai's help, the clan became capable of protecting themselves. Stronger than ever, the clan flourished. Although he had originally planned to leave the clan after they recovered from their attack, Makhai couldn't help but stay. He missed the comfort and familiarity of having his own clan. All his years as a fearsome warrior had only made him scarred and lonely. After staying with Aeca Statio a short time, he fell head over heels for Sweetsi. The water ambassador's kind and gentle nature contrasted everything he had experienced while fighting. She soon became home to him, and he knew that as long as she stayed with Aeca Statio, he couldn't bear to leave. He was quickly accepted by the other clan members and is known for his bravery, integrity, and strength. He is the role model for any dragon of Aeca Statio that wishes to become a warrior. Although he was no longer a great warrior, he made a difference. His name would be remembered in the history of Aeca Statio. |
