Diana is one of the children of Tenebris, the meteorologist, and Phantasma who has dedicated her life to the exploration of the Shifting Expanse. Having no connection to either of her parents' deities and no apparent magical abilities like her father, she has no interest in religion and instead relies on her natural intelligence to make her way as a trainee merchant and trader of rare goods.

As a child bred for the clan's profit, she was raised knowing that she was to be sold on at a young age from the start. Her lack of connection to her heritage made this knowledge easy for her to accept, and instead she trained vigorously in her chosen profession and made sure to take the names of important traders known to Clan Morganite so that she might find her feet in the business world.

Diana is very gentle but also intensely serious. She will look out for anyone who she has forged friendships with, but at the same time, she is a cold realist: if their problems are petty, after consoling them, she will lecture them like a mother or a teacher might, as she feels it is her duty to pass on her knowledge and make sure that anyone younger than herself does not grow too comfortable with the world. No-one is born lucky in her eyes, after all; life is bearable, but will always be tough and unfair. Her acceptance of this is what has made her strong in spirit.

Whilst waiting to find a new home, she received a letter and a sum of gold from Clan Hellgondo to travel there. One of Morganite's ally clans, the invitation was welcome but unexpected, as she did not intend to end up in a position which still might potentially allow her contact with her parents. She does, however, enjoy the cool atmosphere that Shadow offers and the similar business ethics that she believes in, though she still feels no religious connection to the Shadowbinder herself and scorns such rituals.
