Freya

* Freya is of the Vanir, one of the groups of Norse gods. She is the goddess of love, fertility, and magic, and is known for her great beauty.

It is said she taught the Aesir magic, and she possesses a cloak of falcon feathers that allows the wearer to turn into a falcon.

Freya's greatest treasure is the Brisings' necklace. The Brisingamen neckalce was crafted by four dwarfs with such artistry that it glittered like a constellation of stars in the night sky. Around Freyja's lovely neck it became an emblem of the fruits of the heavens and earth. She in her turn, produced treasures for the earth whenever she cried and Freya wept profusely, especially during her search for her husband, Odur. When her tears fell on rock, they turned to gold. When shed at sea they turned to amber. It is said that she obtained the necklace by sleeping with the 4 dwarfs.

As leader of the Valkyries, she had considerable power. She had the right to claim half the souls of the bravest warriors who died in battle. Actually going onto the battlefield, she would gather them up and take them back with her to spend the after-life in her home in perpetual rest and recreation. A sweet and generous woman, she always invited their wives or lovers to come and live with them.
