More than one of the members of this lair would not necessarily pass as 'sane' by medical (or social) standards. Cantus, despite her outward appearance, is not one of those dragons. Hatched in the lair, Cantus was very impressionable in her youth. Surrounded by a mess of wild and eclectic personalities - not to mention all the souls passing through the teahouse - Cantus became fascinated by the behaviour of others. What made some dragons cheerful and others mournful? Why do some shy away from intimidating-looking dragons even though their actions were nothing but kind, while some kind-looking dragons attracted friends even though their actions were unkind? Why do some dragons know their way in life and others have no clue? She had thousands of questions, and when her clanmates ran out of answers for her she resolved to find the answers herself. Cantus is the only dragon here whose full-time lair role is counselling the lost, confused and searching who pass through - many of the other dragons do so as well, but they have other roles within the lair, even if those roles are only small. She sits in the teahouse most days, pretending to be just another passer-through while she talks to newcomers and helps them work out their troubles. Incredibly savvy, she takes great pleasure in not being what she seems to be on the outside, knowing that her ridiculous appearance prevents most other dragons from realising that she's counselling them until she's already well into helping. Cantus is incredibly dedicated to helping, but finds that drive hard very to turn off so it's hard for her to just be herself; to just be a clan member. She always wants to do more for others than they do for her, so it can be hard to be her friend - others feel like they are constantly in her debt. Because of this and because of her drive to understand others in all aspects, she spends any and all of her time outside counselling in her office, putting together research and observation to compile everything there is to know on dragon psychology.
