WEBSTER
Hatchling Caregiver

To foster a sense of community in hatchlings from a young age, the main responsibility for raising the young in the clan falls not on their own parents, but on a designated Hatchling Caregiver. Finding the right dragon for such an important job, however, was not an easy task. For a long time, Juliet provided this service in addition to her duties as the Hatchery Attendant. Webster, however, joined the clan under very unusual circumstances, and the clan finally had a proper Hatchling Caregiver.

While leading a raiding expedition in the Sea of a Thousand Currents, Dellin found a dragon egg completely unattended. He thought that maybe it was a nonviable dud, and brought it back to clan territory, hiding it in his own den instead of taking it to the hatchery. He certainly was surprised when the egg actually hatched, and he returned from his next adventure with a Guardian hatchling in his tree-sap den! Webster was quickly escorted to the hatchery, where he joined the rest of the clan's young. Even as a young hatchling, Webster always saw himself as a sort of protective older brother in relation to the other hatchlings. It comes as little surprise, then, that when he came of age, he insisted on staying in the clan and caring for the young himself.

Many of the other Guardians in the clan have questioned why he has not initiated the search. He says, however, that fate and a blessing of the Tidelord dictated that he perform the search as an egg, and that that was why Dellin found him. The hatchery, he says, is his charge. He works alongside Juliet, caring for and nurturing the youngest members of the clan. Though he isn't quite old enough to be "Uncle Webster," all of the young ones adore him, and look up to him as an older brother.
