No one really knows where Daniel came from originally. He was found one day, wandering around the outskirts of the clan territory, babbling incoherently about someone named "Agrippa" and how they were going to help him repent for his and "Alexander's" sins and keep the "Shadow" at bay.

This, of course, was not a good foot to start on when being brought into a new clan, but Daniel seemed to be more a danger to himself than to others, so the leaders allowed him to stay, focusing all healing efforts on getting Daniel back into working order.

The dragon is definitely a work-in-progress in terms of patching his shattered psyche -- he still wakes up in panics, screeching bloody murder about monsters with mutilated mouths and heads, bloody claws and cleavers for limbs, still jumps like a startled cat at the slightest breeze of air, still collapses to the floor in a shuddering, sobbing mess at being left in the darkness for too long or the smallest sight of shadows from the corners of his vision -- but the dragon is doing better... all things considered.

The help of mind-numbing sedatives he has stashed away may or may not have something to do with his ''recovery.''

And where most Pearlcatchers are territorial and snappy over their pearls, Daniel is downright hysteric. He refuses to allow the orb out of his sight for even a moment, and makes sure to curl himself around it tightly whenever he rests. His pearl goes with him wherever he does, and when even an innocent claw is laid upon it that doesn't belong to Daniel himself, he loses his mind to panic.

The inhabitants of the clan have learned to leave well enough alone, and no longer bother the dragon about his obsessive habit of keeping his pearl away from everyone else. If one didn't know better, they'd say that Daniel is trying to keep the memories infused in the pearl away from curious dragons who would judge harshly for the contents hidden inside...
