Before seeking out a new home, Kirin trained long and hard to get himself in peak physical condition. He dreamed of becoming a warrior, or maybe a guard. The sort of dragon who could protect his new home, and all of his new friends. He met with the leadership of the clan the moment he arrived in the Foxfire Bramble, determined to take up a position under Pharius, or possible Orkeck himself.

However, Tiffany spoke up and said that the clan simply didn't need any more warriors. At least, not desperately. Of course, a clan could really never have enough warriors. In fact, Orkeck had demanded that all dragons in the clan learn to fight, and so Kirin was already well on his way to that goal. What the clan really needed, however, was an expert Insect Catcher--a dragon to actually lead expeditions to catch bugs for the clans food stores. Being a Spiral, Kirin had plenty of experience in the subject.

At first, he was disappointed. However, he quickly came to the realization that, in a way, catching insects was protecting the clan. It protected them from hunger and starvation, and his leadership would protect insect-catching expeditions from getting lost or confused while on the hunt. Either way, the position was open, and it was plain to see that Kirin, although young, was a natural leader. His willpower was strong, and his desire to serve his new clan in any capacity was great. He is an incredibly asset to the clan, and everyone agrees that insect catching had never gone anywhere near as smoothly without his guidance.
