PERMAFROST
"There is beauty in everything, and to see it decay under the flows of time is such a waste. Ice will keep the decay at bay; ice will eternalize the beauty."

Clan Historian
Born of Utopia and Dystopia, the chilling first son of the clan founders was anything but perfect. His beauty was without rival; the innocent purity of first snow meeting the warmth of the ground's soil and the smear of soot, yet his soul was as cold as could be. He was given the job of Clan Historian, Keeper of Memories and Records, and Counselor of past events when Utopia first realized how cold her son was; he'd inherited her ethereal beauty yet he'd been blessed with a heart void of emotion. He was the perfect dragon for the job; the unfading frost of his soul kept information eternal in his mind.

He was born into a world of untold beauty, urged into being by his mother and guarded jealously by his father. He was raised by the two opposing sides of light; the gentleness and kindness of his mother, and the rapid, chaotic energy of his father. Yet he took after neither, for he'd been born quite different than they were.

Where Utopia had a soul blessed with the softest warmth given by the first rays of light of the day, and Dystopia harbored the fiery passion of dusk's last burning rays of sunlight, Permafrost hosted a soul colder than the Icewarden's domain, and a heart frozen by everlasting ice.

His frozen heart was what separated him from his parents, what set him off on his own path while they reigned over his siblings. He was different than them, for where they sought to grow or destroy, he only sought to immortalize. He'd always been obsessed with the beauty that surrounded him, courtesy of his mother, but he'd always felt a distance for others. Where his mother wished for perfection in those she could interact with, he sought perfection in things he could keep with him forever.

His coldness drove others away from him, but being alone bothered him not. It gave him more time to focus on the beauty around him, the world that he could conform to his liking, preserve forever. He'd been called unapproachable, rude, cold, mean, and many other things, but the words of dragons around him were little more than the squeaking of a field mouse, for he looked down on them.

They would eventually fade away, their beauty stolen by time and the darkness that his father embedded in each of their souls, but he would remain. He would always remain, and with him, his beauty.

All he'd wanted to do was eternalize some of that beauty; make certain that it would never leave. He'd wanted to create a world where beauty never faded, never died or decayed, never abandoned the creatures that marveled at it, and the others called him cold for his cause. So what if life had to be stolen from such beautiful things as flowers, when Permafrost could ensure they stayed beautiful forever.

The role of Historian only came naturally to him, for he, so used to preserving those things that he thought beautiful, deemed the remembrance of knowledge important to the immortalization of a perfect, beautiful utopian society. Knowledge of the past could help him, and by extension, his mother, create the most beautiful society the world had ever seen and would ever see.

Though, even if his mother's utopian society froze over, and Hell reigned, Permafrost wouldn't mind. He wouldn't so much as bat an eye, so long as his beautiful, immortal masterpieces remained.
