STORY... I have always loved history. I grew up listening to the stories of my parents' adventures. Daring feats ...tales fraught with danger and heated battles. While those stories were interesting, I was more fascinated by those who were left behind. What kind of strength did it take to keep the clan running while the warriors were away? It is the stories of those dragons that most of us forget. I began to record the tales I heard as soon as I learned to write. Scroll after scroll, I inscribe the stories of those who came before and the many who come after. Mothers, warriors, teachers, children. I record it all so that we can learn from our mistakes, and so that future generations can know us. My parents were very accommodating; providing ink and tale after tale for my amusement. Even though he indulged me, my father also taught me to fight. I don't enjoy battling as he does, but I am proficient enough to get the job done. My strength lies not in physical prowess, but in knowledge. Once I was grown, I decided to wander and see the world. I came across this clan of wayfarers and decided to make these dragons my home. It is difficult to travel with so many scrolls and tomes, though Merlin's magic makes that task a little easier. We are steadily moving forward into the heart of the labyrinth. We stay in some locations for weeks...and others for only days. Some dragons think a lair must be stationary, but to our clan, a lair is created by the dragons in it. Home is not fixed for us, but is found within each other. Still, someday I hope that we will find what we are looking for...a home with our Glademother. Until then I will teach our young (and old) our histories. I will take comfort in my granddaughter, WatersEdge, whose company keeps me sane. And I will spend my time recording our lives and adventures so that we may always be remembered. | . |
