Tiste was as a hatchling known as a "changeling". She hatched from an egg of Light, but was before that transported over the border to Lightning. Her eyes took the color of a normal Lightning citizen, but her powers are insufficiant for the element. Stories say she was taken here because her mother, Jinetjade, was fleeing from authorities in Light and hid her egg before she disappeared.

She takes the role similar to a mother to the entire clan. She doesn't believe being anything else than forthright in her feedback is useful, and she is a respected leader by the clan members. Before "adopting" new dragons, she ensures that all members can hold a relationship of trust to one another.

Tiste's secret is the hunger for power. She makes sure no one could guess it. Her wish is that her clan would grow famous across Sornieth, and her children to become masters at what they do. Though, she realises that with the current competition, her clan and family might not reach her goal, at least for this generation.

She loves amber of all kinds, and collects it to use in various places in the lair. Her most treasured item is a dreameater tusk from her previous passed away dreameater. She also loves to keep magpies around and pet their heads.
