was just a normal dragon to begin with until dreams called her towards something
one day, a magic attached itself to her, and the beginnings of her crown formed. had the power to see into other’s souls, talk to birds and use ice around her, but only for the purposes of creation, not destruction.
she found her purpose with the keepers, earning the title of keeper of ice, mentored by the weary isolde, the former keeper of ice. alaska is one of the only dragons that isolde was ever truly affectionate towards and continues to still be affectionate to in her old, bitter age.
but of course, she was wanted for her magic. an ice clan entranced her with foreign and elusive magic one night in the form of a chime-like lullaby. she was led right into the enemy clans claws as she fought for her conscience but inevitably fell in a dream like-trace. regaining consciousness too late, she was taken in a swift abduction. her captors were a very exotic clan, of elegance, prestige, reputation and appearance. they offered alaska a deal: give herself over (dedicate herself to the clan and live) or give her magic over (extract her magic and die). any signs of resistance would result in the latter. not knowing what to do, she accepted the former and tried to assimilate into the clan, knowing full well that the keepers would note her disappearance and hopefully come rescue her if she couldn’t come up with a way to escape herself. she knew isolde would be distraught (who was growing much too old to handle her power at the time. she was holding on to her final slither of power and it was quickly sapping the life from her). one night, isolde tried to escape but was recaptured. noting the betrayal, the unforgiving leader told her she could no longer be trusted.
forcefully taken to an exotic ice carven that had the interior of a gothic castle made of ice, her magic was extracted in an excruciating manner. the extraction showed signed of not working but still killing alaska. the keepers burst in at the right time, saving alaska just in time, but not before the rebound effects of trying to remove the magic created a protective but grotesque collar of ice around her neck, forever showing the ugliness of dragons.
