Nobody quite remembers when or how Isildur joined the Clan of the Plaguebearers. Not even the clan leader herself is able to recall; according to her, he simply appeared one day. Isildur doesn’t reveal much about his past, or where he came from. All he says is that his Search led him to the very edges of the Scarred Wasteland, where he met a young mirror with a dream. From that day on, he vowed to protect her and her rising clan with his life. Due to his size, his outward appearance, and his tendency to stay quiet and speak only when necessary, many dragons see him as cold and unwelcoming. However, once you get to know him better, it’s obvious that he hides a much warmer personality underneath. Isildur is the clan’s record keeper, and he takes his job very seriously. Every visitor, every exaltee, every new building on the clan grounds are recorded by the guardian. Of course, some records are taken care of by other dragons; for example, Scymrian counts every bit of treasure that enters and leaves the clan, and Kaldurahm monitors the clan's hoard. When Isildur has free time, he enjoys reading. His den is full of books about every subject imaginable, although his favorite thing to read about is the history of Sornieth. When Fable is busy or sick, Isildur happily takes over her job as nanny; he has a soft spot for hatchlings. He can spend hours telling the little ones stories about everything he reads, and most of them are enraptured by his tales. |

Isildur found Laurence one day while training in the Ghostlight Ruins with Kelsier and Stahli. The longneck was near-fatally injured, lying on the ground and bleeding out; it was lucky that the clan leader wasn't around at the time, because most of dragonkind's mistrust of beastclans would have led her to order Laurence to be finished off. Instead, pacifist Isildur took pity on him and decided to heal him. Laurence vowed to be loyal to Isildur, and after convincing Stahli to let a longneck stay in the clan, the two became companions. They both share a love for books, and often spend hours studying in the clan library. Although Isildur managed to heal Laurence, he still has scarring across his neck and chest to this day. He still hasn't revealed exactly what did so much damage to him.

Isildur is very ticklish around the joints on his wings, and keeps this fact as hidden as possible lest the many hatchlings he cares for find out and abuse this fact during playtime.
