Surrounded by darkness, a wave of claustrophobia kicks in and the baby dragon kicked out with all four limbs and shattered his eggshell to pieces. He flopped out of the remainder of his shell and landed on his back. Grunting to himself, he looked out at his surroundings but all he could see were the remains of nests semi-recently hatched. The young little thing suddenly found himself munching on his discarded eggshell. "Why am I doing this?" he thought, but by the time he questioned it it had already been completely eaten. Completely parched, Malik set off to find some water.

After wandering for what felt like forever, he saw something pink floating along. It reminded him of the pieces of eggshells that were lying around, so he decided to follow it. When it finally settled down in a patch of grass, he decided to pounce on it! Unfortunately that sent it rolling down a small, nearby hill. When it came to a stop, he saw movement shaking the egg from within so he slowly stalked towards it. It cracked open and a small, dark-blue head poked out to look around. A friend! The new friend tried to run away, but Malik pounced in excitement.

That first encounter led to a lifelong friendship between the young Pearlcatcher and his Skydancer friend, which over time blossomed into a loving relationship and the urge to start their own family. Over time, other dragons joined them and their offspring, and their family grew into a clan. Needing a safe place to continue living, their clan followed Mia to the Sunbeam ruins where Mia used to live at one point.
