Enigma and Mystery have known each other since before Mystery began The Search. After injuring himself mid-flight with his former pack, he plummeted into the ocean below nearly drowning in the currents. He was discovered and rescued by the leader of Mystery's original clan, and it was in their lair he stayed until he fully recovered several months later.

During that time, Mystery was tasked with making sure his condition was improving, and they became good friends. Once Enigma was fully healed, he and Mystery exchanged goodbyes, and left in search for a new pack.

Years pass, packs are joined and abandoned, and Enigma eventually found himself back near the lair of his rescuers. He asked for Mystery in hopes of seeing his old friend, but was told she had begun The Search for her charge and that she could be on the other side of the world by now.

Saddened by this news he went to return to his pack, but not long after he began his flight, he saw a disturbance by some tide pools. He descended to find a familiar large and beautiful creature creating a lair for herself in the sand. He and Mystery reacquainted themselves and realized how much they had missed each other. Enigma agreed to stay and help her finish the lair, but he couldn't find it in himself to leave her again.

The two became mates and founded the now thriving clan of The Sanctuary.
