Charm

Charm was a rare gem. Her parents left her at a young age to fly to their respective callings and from that, knowledge was born. Charm knew every plant and brilliant mixture to make by the time she was fully grown. Her skills weren't only that of brewing magical tinctures but also creating candies and other irresistible sweets.

One day she found herself wandering through a wood she had never thought would exist. Some of the strange plants glowed and moved as if they were alive. Charm slowly walked through the wooded hills picking plants and chewing them to see what they tasted like and smelled like. To her delight many of the plants that grew here were simply cousins to the plants near her old lair. She pulled out her little cauldron and started a fire beneath it. She began humming quietly and she used her magic to summon fresh water into the pot. She smiled to herself from her self taught Pearl magic and began to flit to and fro from plant to plant till she had a strange colored mixture of sweet tar. She pulled out a small cutting board and swirled a spoon into the mixture. She plopped the sweet tar onto the board and shaped it into small bite sized pieces. As she was near the end she noticed there were a set of eyes watching her and the growling of a stomach along with them. She looked up at the stunning pink eyes and motioned for the creature to come,
"You must be," Her words caught in her throat as the giant dragon stepped into the strange lighting of the forest. She forced a scared smile and carried on, "You must be hungry, try these" The Giant Guardian peered down at her and then sat beside her and took a few pieces of the strange sweet tar. A look of surprise glanced across the guardian's face and it turned it's eyes down upon her,
"You are an amazing sweets maker" it's voice was loud but feminine and Charm couldn't help but feel instantly at ease after hearing her voice.
"Thank you. You are welcome to have more I made a whole cauldron full of them," Her laughter rang out, "and by the looks of it you must be hungry!"
Aye, my mate and I aren't much for cooking and raw things can only get you so far," the guardian tossed a few more sweets into her maw and mumbled, "My chosen name is Rhea, it is wonderful meeting you. May I ask where it is you are headed?" the guardian chewed happily and looked up at the sky.
"I haven't really thought about where I was going to be honest," Charm scratched her arm and looked up at the sky with the giant guardian female.
"You are free to stay with us if you would like. Your sweets and magic would be a great aid during your stay, and you would be free to leave whenever the wind called your name," The guardian smiled at her clever words. The Wind was what she was tied to. Charm shifted uncertain at first about simply agreeing but something felt right being beside this giant of a dragon and she couldn't help but say yes.

The lair she walked into was stunning. the pink hued stone hummed and seemed to sing any and every song you could think of. The plants in the courtyard clearing of the great hall were sweet and perfect for harvesting and candy making. She walked past one room with a cauldron the size of a small mountain and she gasped out in awe. Rhea stopped there and looked at the pearl,
"Let's clean out the cooks lair for you so you can have access to the clan kitchen at will,"
"But!" Charm started to protest the amount of work and time that would be spent cleaning on her behalf,
"No need to protest, my love is in my lair, I should have kept it in better shape," The guardian flapped her grand wings and the years of dust seemed to vanish up and out the chimney. Then the guardian grasped the cauldron and heaved it over onto her back, "Let's wash this in the courtyard, will you be able to summon some water from the old springs?' Charm nodded and scampered after Rhea.

They cleaned everything and Rhea bid her goodnight after noming on a few more candies and taking some with her for her mate.

Charm hasn't left since. Her home was in the kitchens making delicious things for her new found clan and the wind never called her name again.
