Biography
Oleander
Oleander joined Clan Setaria back when it was still new, when she was just a dull pearlcatcher from the shadows. |
|
Joining a budding clan and adopting a major role in it was a heavy task, but this chance allowed Oleander to bloom. Oleander was the Judge of the clan, the final decider when it came to settling disputes and punishing intruders, as well as creating laws the clan would live by. Some dragons came to her for guidance and advice, others on how to change guild rules in accordance to clan law. As Oleander settled into her craft, as well as the clan, she grew unsettled in her own skin. Her mind had matured, but her body had not changed along with it. Upon this revelation, Oleander took swift action to make show the world who she truly was, as many were disarmed at her mind after judging her form. Giving up her pearl was a hardship, but it still lived within her mind. Choosing a Coatl scroll had the advantage of having another limb to do work with, a gift with how much work Oleander had to do to keep the clan at peace. Quickly choosing rare scrolls to mutate her wings and underbelly, Oleander was determined to prove herself one not to look over. Oleander wanted her reveal to be a strong one, an impression that would not be forgotten for many years. When all the preparations were done, Oleander used the scrolls all at once - blacking out. When she woke, her skin was new but she was already more comfortable physically than she had been in years. Looking in the reflection of the pond her nest was by, Oleander looked in trepidation, did she do the right thing? Only the clan's Physician, Aghavni, knew what she was doing. Her reflection showed blooming colors and strong lines streaking her form. Oleander was comfortable in her own wings once more, and stretched out her new shape. Impatient and perhaps a little scared, Oleander walked down the tunnel from her personal alcove to the clan's hub, wings too new and sore to fly. Nearing the enterance to the main chamber, Oleander only had a second to observe who was there before someone spotted her. |
Everybody froze. A strange coatl was walking out of their Judges personal chamber, flanked by Clan's Physician. Claws twitched and wings were tensed, looking upon the intruder. Keshav, who rarely was in the main chamber but was there then, quickly put together the pieces. She, who knew Oleander greater than anybody, knew that Oleander would do this unannounced and alone. "Oleander", she muttered, staring down at the Coatl. Everybody started. This was their Judge? The dragons present were silent in shock. Megaera, one of Oleanders closest and oldest friends, was the one to act first. She quickly embraced the new Coatl, forehead pressed against Oleander's, tails lacing together. Keshav settled her wing over the pair, the closest she could get without crushing them. "You didn't have to do this to prove yourself, you know? We love you anyway." Megaera's eyes shined with understanding, though a sad one, Keshav nodding in agreement. Realization settled over the crowd, and they gathered close. Many tears were shed that day. Many moons later... |
