What is a castle without a king? CHAOS.

He is THE KING of the castle. He is uniquely qualified to rule because of his immense age and wisdom. He's mastered many of sorneith's elemental magics, and is thusly difficult to defeat in combat. No matter the challenge to the throne, he has defeated it/them in many quick and horrifying manners.
His main priority is to keep the castle keep's residents alive and happy in any way possible, as to guarantee the settlement's continued existence. (Monarchies are looked down upon in Arcane since they are inherently more archaic and flawed in comparison to other leadership styles. It doesn't really matter since The King has held his role for hundreds of years, and will most likely continue to do so.)
His kids were born before he was a king, and so they may/may not be considered princes.
He is aware of how many residents can't actually leave the castle due to an centuries-old curse(including himself). He tries to keep them all happy and unaware of how they may/may not be able to leave.
