Old lore:

- Citra was cursed as a teenager by a queen and forced into her service bc she stole her Golden Idol
- the deal was she would be freed if it was ever returned, but by that time, it had already changed countless hands and she couldn't find it
- she also never aged while under this spell
- when the queen was on her deathbed, she added another curse: since Citra couldn't die, but the death of the queen would free her from the curse, she would be turned into a sandstone statue the moment the queen died
- queen dies, and Citra is locked in the tomb as a statue, guarding over the pedestal where the statue could be returned to free her and appease the queen's spirit
- color is bleached from her, eyes turn to sapphires, and wings are blown into a brownish glass; this never faded
- she's aware of this whole 450 years in the tomb
- fast forward to today, Cas passes by tomb while traveling; queen's spirit stops him (since no one has been able to see her for a long, long time), tells him she's going to wreak havoc on the area where the Idol is kept until it's returned to her
- several dragons - including Nuka - go searching for it; most never come back
- Nuka finds the Idol and sends it back, but stays with the Reivers where she found it
- Cassie goes to the tomb, leaving the Idol on the pedestal
- imagine her surprise when the stone guardian comes to life
- Citra is freed from her 600 year curse, swears to follow Cassie to the ends of the earth for saving her
- since neither she nor Cassie can die, they make fast friends
- she's now Cassie's willing left hand (get it, bc Cas is her right hand) and the leader of the trading caravans so she can see what she's missed
