Vortarr

Vortarr is not a very social or talkative dragon. She prefers to keep to herself, and is not often seen outside the graveyard. Newcomers to the clan do not go near her or talk to her very often, as older clan members warn them not to agitage her. Vortarr has experienced heavy loss in her life, including one of her hatchlings, a mate, and even her own charge.

Vortarr’s charge ended up being her own brother Daerikk. She had sworn to protect him at all costs, but one day the lair was assaulted by an enemy clan which killed many clan members, who also took the life of her brother. Vortarr did all she could to ensure his survival, but ultimately failed, her enemies having had far too much of an advantage over her. She stayed by his side until death, and refused to leave even when Daerikk’s body was to be taken away for the other ridgebacks to take care of.

After the death of many of her own family members, Vortarr felt that the only thing she could do now in the aftermath of her failure was to protect the remains of her former charge, along with the remains of the other clan members who had died in the attack. Vortarr unofficially became the caretaker of the graveyard outside of the lair, digging graves for newly deceased dragons and protecting the graveyard from any hooligans or gravediggers. Vortarr will often wear her “gravekeeping attire” at night while patrolling the area surrounding the graveyard to scare anyone trying to come close to the graveyard. Her size significantly helps in ensuring that anyone that sees her thinks twice about visiting, and the graveyard has since been labelled as “haunted by the grim reaper herself”, but in reality it is just Vortarr doing her job.
