Born a female, but identifying as male, carefree and wild, there is not much Sideswipe hasn't done or isn't willing to try at least once. Although everything he does seems like a rash, and even dangerous decisions, Sideswipe is much more clever then most give him credit for; no decision is made without thought, even the ones most would deem 'irresponsible' and 'stupid'. Nine times out of ten, Sideswipe knows exactly what he is doing and why, although the reasons my be unknown to most.

Sideswipe does not remember where he came from or who is birth clan are and frankly he does not care. Assuming he was abandoned, Sideswipe has only had his 'brother' Sunstreaker for a very long time. Although they are not true twins, they refer to themselves as such since for the longest of times they only had each other.

Sideswipe knows that Sunstreaker remembers who their birth clan was, but the gold Imperial never talks about how they ended up in the Tangled Woods, and Sideswipe never asks. He can see the pain in Sunstreaker's eyes, and Sideswipe is too much a coward to share in that pain. But if Sideswipe thinks on it too much, he can sometimes remember falling, falling an impossible length before hitting water. He can feel the panic as water rushes into his nose, and choking his lungs; he remembers Sunstreaker pulling him through water, heavy and fast...and then nothing. What ever happened that night, Sunstreaker doesn't want to talk about it, and Sideswipe doesn't want to remember.

A natural explorer, Sideswipe and Sunstreaker have been to almost all the plains across the world, meeting different clans and flights along the way, but none had the power to sway them to join.

That was until Sideswipe met Onslaught. Although the Pearlcatcher cannot say what drew him to the Guardian at first, but he followed Onslaught home after watching him compete in the coliseum, and Onslaught's awkward request to come with him, and simply never left; not one to let his brother venture out into the world on his own, Sunstreaker followed.

Now a loyal member of Onslaught's clan, Sideswipe uses ever ounce of cunning skill to help his clan stay alive in the Ashfall Waste, and improve their station.

Although he has a hard time admitting it out loud, Sideswipe fell hard for his clan leader and protector, Onslaught; seeing the damage inflicted, the Pearlcatcher dragon does what ever it takes to make Onslaught smile and laugh as often as possible, slowly mending the hurt inside, shoring up their bond to one another.

It is because of that deep seeded love for Onslaught that keeps Sideswipe with them, and everyone knows it. Just as everyone knows that Sideswipe would do what ever Onslaught asks of him, knowing exactly where the Pearlcatcher's loyalty lies. Although it is true that Leet, Clan matriarch and official second takes control of clan when Onslaught is unable to lead, it is also well known that Sideswipe is the unofficial second of their clan.

Being Onslaught's mate holds a certain amount of say in clan affairs, but Sideswipe's time exploring gave him a certain edge over both Onslaught and Leet; he and Sunstreaker have seen how the world beyond their boarders work. They have seen its beauty and cruelty, and everything in between. They hold a certain amount of knowledge of the reality of the real world.

Sideswipe may not have direct say in clan affairs, but his word has heavy weight to it, and his opinions are held in the highest of regards; the clan turning to Sideswipe in the events when both Onslaught and Leet are unable to lead.
During a mission of peace, Onslaught met a dragon that called herself Megs; Megs was from no particular clan and of no particular importance. However, upon meeting the hulking dragon, Megs became obsessed with the massive Guardian, mistaking his politeness and kindness for attraction and affection.

It was upon learning that Onslaught already had a mate and a family that Megs threatened Sideswipe's life, vowing to leave Onslaught and his mate alone only if he helped her achieve her desire of having hatchlings; feeling trapped and fearing for Sideswipe's life, Onslaught agreed to her insanity and mated with her; producing three eggs.

Returning home shamed and feeling like he failed his mate, Onslaught tried to distance himself from everything as he fell apart inside; sending Vortex and Tarn after the dragon that had threatened his mate, and exsalt her to the Flamecaller's services.

It was during this time, as Onslaught distanced himself from Sideswipe, did the Pearlcatcher discover what was really happening and was furious that Onslaught had been put into such a position. Onslaught however, was not ready to talk to his little mate, and avoided him despite his great need to be with Sideswipe.

Upon their return, Tarn and Vortex turned two of the three eggs to a vulnerable Onslaught, telling him the third had been lost in the fight. Onslaught, expecting Sideswipe to leave him, retreated to the nesting grounds to sit on his nest alone; slipping into depression as he thought his life would fall apart around him.

Sideswipe, as he always did, came to find his vulnerable mate and again saw the emotional mess he had become since the incident; knowing that his mate had been backed into a corner and had done what he had to protect him. Sideswipe had curled his smaller body around Onslaught and the unhatched eggs, guarding them both like they were his own; acting as a vicious and protective Guardian.

When the two eggs did hatch, Sideswipe fell in instant love with little Niche and Ethereal, raising he pair as his own hatchlings, happily casting out any dragon who dare say other wise. Sideswipe becoming Onslaught's rock, protecting his heart and emotions from those who dare do Onslaught harm.
