Potato was created by the Gladekeeper when she gave life to a small potato vine, which also led to his namesake. Potato was convinced to join the clan by Phorcys after he was found aimlessly burrowing into the ground, covering himself in a pile of dirt. Phorcys practically raised him, showing him how to take care of himself and teaching him important life skills. He spends almost all of his time now shadowing Phorcys.

In following Phorcys he has learned how to develop poisons and antidotes. He has created many of his own new recipes surprising Phorcys greatly. He even managed to surpass Phorcys's ability to create deadly poisons. Having decided to one day test his products like he had seen Phorcys do many times, he almost killed Demeter. Since then Phorcys has him under a much stricter watch.

He tends to his own garden, growing a wide variety of poisonous ingredients as well as produce for the Clan to enjoy. His garden is his pride and joy, useful for both himself and Phorcys. He usually spends time here when he needs a break or Phorcys wants him to do something alone.

Unlike Phorcys he is nearly silent, however he does not mind Phorcys' chattering and enjoys his company and insight. He does not desire a mate though he feels as if he may love his mentor and is therefore content to curl up with Phorcys at night. Potato does not quite understand others' emotions and hasn't yet developed his vocabulary which alienates him from most of his clan mates.
