Eseld
The Messenger

Eseld comes from a venerable lair in the Cairnstone Rest and heard of the Archives from a few friends. She left home to visit the place and was quite impressed by the large array of things collected there. She lost herself in a section of melodramatic ancient love stories, of dragons of yore separated from true love often in tragic and over-the-top means. Matija found her eventually, and asked her if she wished to stay with the clan, she responded that she wasn't very good at picking out interesting tales to keep or skilled at collecting artifacts, and the guardian said she would employ her as a messenger. The nocturne girl was small, and both of her parents were skilled fliers, and thus so was she. She accepted the job, on the caveat that she be allowed to nest in the section she had been reading from. Amused, the guardian agreed. In her time spent in the section she encountered a family of Emerald Webwings nesting in an upper shelf. The creatures eventually moved on, but left behind one hatchling with a broken wing, Eseld took the little one to Tamika, and once it was healed it had clearly imprinted on the nocturne. It flits after her from place to place in the Archives, and flies with her on missions. She spends most of her days reading and reciting, in an equally dramatic voice the plays and stories she has read, doing different mimicked voices for each of the characters. It was soon noticed by the wildclaw Kenyon however that all the lead males were done in his voice. The two were mated soon after he confronted her. She also memorizes and keeps alive the orated tales told to her by a few of the collectors, and will happily recite them for guests. Unofficially she is also the archives pest control, keeping the library free of pests and book-destroying beetles in her quest to feed her bottomless pit of a stomach. |
