The Water User

Oceancrystal is in charge of the water in her clan, despite being blind.

Oceancrystal comes from the waves of the see, despite her lighting eyes. This is not due to being born in The Shifting Expanse, but due to blindness. Others may think she is blind, but she sees in a different way. In her point of view, very few dragons are wise enough not to be blind. She can see better than the rest of her clan, but in a different way. In her point of view, she is not blind, but instead most of her clan is.

When she hatched, her mother saw her blindness as a weakness. Angry and upset, she abandoned her. She did not care for blind hatchlings. She did not think they could survive the harsh world. Instead of keeping her, she thought she was doing Oceancrystal a favor by not letting her suffer from blindness. She did not understand that she just sees a different way. Oceancrystal was thrown into the sea.

Jarred by the violent waves, Oceancrystal cried out for help. She was jerked into the middle of the ocean, the waves tossing over her. she spread her wings and floated. The worst was over. She was thrown in during a storm to kill her faster, so she did not have to suffer. Rejected and alone, she began to cry for hours. When she had finally stopped the tears from coming, she tried to push her way to the shore. The water seemed to move for her, to push her along. Currents formed to push her at the shore. when she made it, she began to cry again. Her sightless eyes seemed to scan the shore. Granted better smell and ears than on other dragons, she found enough food to survive.

Everyday she grew stronger. She had never saw and couldn't imagine it. She thought seeing must be horrible. She knew had had better senses than other dragons. No dragon good ambush her, not even in her sleep. She just woke up and left the area. She liked swimming better than flying. The air never seemed to move and shift for her. But the water did. It seemed like it wanted her to get somewhere. One day she just jumped in and let the water take her were it took her. to a river. It flowed into the Tangled Wood, were the Shadowbinder found her. She led her to Flamesoul and Clay, were they took her in.

Eve since she has lived happily. She even got a Hoarfrost Mauler. She is happier here than she ever was. She loves being in charge of the water and loves the joy of the clan.
