Hatched from a forest-found egg, Sirei grew up in the Gladeveins, raised jointly by all the members of her small clan. Though she remembers them with fondness, she never felt a strong attachment to any of them—instead, there was always a draw toward something or someone "out there." It was a relief to her when she finally left on her Search. After long and pleasant wandering among the forests of the Labyrinth, she came upon the Smokeveil falls and was instantly enchanted by the scene. As she refreshed herself with a swim in the crystalline river below the falls, Keri came upon her, and the rest, as they say, is history. Although Keri is the clan chief and as such technically has the final word in all things, in practice Sirei wields just as much influence, if not more—in part because she has Keri's ear and is often able to temper his more hard-headed opinions, and in part because she has more patience and more skill in communicating with other dragons. The clan knows that she can always be relied upon to be the voice of reason and compassion. Sirei is calm and generally tolerant but will not put up with crap if someone gets up in her face; there have been some tensions between her and Thorne, the leader of the mirror pack, on this account. An organizer at heart, she keeps the clan focused on their goals and working smoothly together. Keri's bluster doesn't impress her at all, but she's very, very fond of him, and gently takes the mickey out of him whenever he gets too stuffy. While they both have the clan as their Charge, Keri's protective instincts tend to focus slightly more on preserving the site and the "way" of the clan, whereas Sirei's lean toward its members as individuals. These two slightly divergent tacks have blended together well, at least so far. Facts – Secretly takes some pride in the fact that she has great-grandchildren in the clan and Ffene doesn't (a holdover from some early conflicts between them) – Despite her love for the clan, has few close, personal friendships. Seraphinx is probably the closest to her, although Branth has been making overtures of late. – Fought in the coli in the clan's earliest days, but quit when Keri did and for the same reasons. Fictions – Different Ways, Worlds Apart – also appears in Kyrszith's Price and Splendor in the Glade Familiar The double-tailed warcat Marrka is a calm and constant presence by Sirei's side. She has watched over Sirei's hatchlings as if they were her own cubs.
