Keri hails from somewhere deep in the shadows of the Behemoth's bole, the very heart of the Gladekeeper's realm, although he never really speaks about his birth clan, even to his mate, Sirei. The two of them met at the foot of the Smokeveil falls; starstruck both by each other and by the extraordinary beauty of the site, they pledged themselves to a mutual Charge: the clan that they would found there together. Keri focuses mostly on the needs of the land and the overall direction of the clan: usually he decides the "what" and "why," and Sirei works out "when," "who," and "how." Since Sirei is far better at interpersonal relations than he is, this generally works out well. Keri's manner is gruff and straightforward; his speech is blunt and decidedly not diplomatic. He has a quick temper, although it typically manifests in shouting rather than physical violence. Despite this stern and unyielding attitude, he does have an inner soft side, especially when it comes to the dragons he cares about and to those who are in need of help. His particular weakness is sad, waifish female hatchlings, and he's brought a number of them home to the clan over the years (among them Tanitai, Yris, and Latania). Conservative at heart, Keri prefers to keep things "natural," and he doesn't quite approve of all the fancy, silky garb and jewelry that many of the clan adorn themselves with, but as long as they do their work and respect the principles of the clan he limits himself to occasional grumbling about it. Besides, he understands that such adornments show off the clan's prosperity and add to its prestige. Keri is small for a guardian and also extremely stocky for his size, which makes him a somewhat reluctant flyer. (The Mirror Brothers used to joke that he had the build of a snapper—but never where he could hear them.) Facts – Briefly fought in the coli during the clan's early days, but soon gave it up because it took too much time and was too much of a distraction from running the clan. – Is an extremely devout follower of the Gladekeeper, yet prefers to keep worship simple and minimal. – Has been complaining of headaches and general malaise of late, which doesn't improve his temper. Fictions – Splendor in the Glade – also appears in Kyrszith's Price Familiar Keri's sunspot clouddancer, Kriysas, disapproves of everyone, and especially you. Unless you have anchovies.
