The Frostflower tribe has lived high in the Crags for as long as anyone can remember - and given their oral history, that memory goes back almost as long as tundras have existed. Afon takes that legacy very seriously, and does his best to guide his tribe with wisdom and care. He often looks to his Ice Sprite for advice - Sleat has been companion and advisor to Frostflower leaders for almost the entire lifespan of the tribe, and Afon trusts him implicitly.

He was actually exalted, not long after he reached adulthood, and served the Icewarden for... a long time. He doesn't remember how long, and his memories of that time are distant, hard to grasp - mostly, he doesn't speak of it. He was called back by his clan when the previous leader, his younger sister, died, and the clan wanted someone from her bloodline to continue at its head. He's still not sure why the Icewarden released him from his duties, but coming back was like being thawed from the inside out, and after his clan went to such effort to bring him back... well, how could he say no when they asked him to lead them?

He's not exactly what you'd expect out of a leader in this harsh land - he is kind and gentle, more interested in talking things out than using strength or authority to get his way. When a strange scholarly clan moved into the old Vault up on the mountain, Afon cheerfully accepted their presence, and even offered the Frostflower's help supplying them with food and furs until they were more firmly established.

He does, however, have a tendency to be overwhelmed by strong emotions; he spent so long in the Icewarden's realm not feeling anything that any emotions at all are a lot for him. Sometimes he wishes they hadn't brought him back at all. He tries not to let his tribe see this side of him - he wouldn't want to worry them, or make them doubt him.

OTHERWORLDLY
Having been at the Icewarden's side for so long, Afon sometimes forgets mortal concerns. He may sit in thought for days at a time unless interrupted; he will forget he needs to eat or sleep unless reminded; he seems to display emotions on a short delay, out of practice with feelings.
