about.
Few assume Taeven is any kind of leader in her clan, on first meeting her. She's quiet and reserved, rarely speaking unless she feels it's necessary. Other voices always speak louder than hers, and she listens to others' opinions before ever offering hers. However, anyone paying attention may note that the others in the clan always listen when she does speak, and rarely hesitate to follow her lead.

Despite how quiet she is, she's not antisocial or unfriendly. Firnhold may be built to discourage visitors from ever finding it, but Taeven herself is always happy to welcome travelers, or clanless dragons looking for a quiet, safe place to call home. She is endlessly curious about the world, its history, and all the creatures in it, and even years spent wandering never really satisfied that curiosity. Each new book or artifact or cultural curiosity the clan acquires is a source of great delight for her, and she'll spend hours studying them... or listening to stories from travelling dragons, and recording them for posterity. Her records, her hoard, and, in fact, every aspect of her life she can possibly control are meticulously organized.

Though skilled at magics involving ice, she has never expanded her abilities much outside of her natural talents - she's never been one for combat, so she doesn't see much need for any greater magical ability than she already possesses.

She does not speak in the usual fae monotone - her voice is notably more expressive - but she also doesn't use her crest in the expressive manner of other fae, so while she can usually "read" them, other fae find her almost as difficult to understand as other dragons.

She didn't quite inherit her father's paranoia... but she has a healthy concern about the future, and she hates to be caught unprepared for anything. She's very practical and realistic, not prone to superstition or wild flights of fancy or unnecessary anxiety - but if she sees a potential problem, she's going to fix it or mitigate it before it ever troubles her, and then rest assured in the knowledge that it never will.

history.
Taeven's true origin is unknown - she was found as a very young hatchling on the tundra, perhaps kidnapped by some beastclan or orphaned in some tragic accident. Whatever the reason, it was clear she would not survive on her own, and so she was adopted by the guardian who found her, as he had no family or clan of his own.

Her adopted father was... eccentric. He claimed as his charge a haphazard collection of historical artifacts from previous ages, and he was deeply paranoid about any other dragon stealing any part of his hoard — and so he carved out a lair deep in the mountains of the Southern Icefield, where he was sure no one would find him, and jealously guarded it. This was the place Taeven grew up, isolated from other dragons, surrounded by strange treasures and ancient history.

When she grew old enough, she left home and took to traveling, determined to see the world she could only imagine before. She made friends, raised a few clutches of hatchlings who all left to make their own way in the world, and eventually found two close traveling partners. The three of them wandered Sornieth together for years... until her father's old familiar found her and told her that her father had died. Slightly reluctantly, driven by sorrow and obligation, she turned back toward the Icefield to see what he had left her.
