Queen Matriarch

B I O G R A P H Y

The Alpha and Omega of the clan--her word is law, and has justly been earned. Sola rose up in her realm by way of her caring heart, charisma and business savvy. It began with a few rag-tags she took under her care. Her natural inclination as a guardian, perhaps. Her crew began to look up to her, building her up and continuously looking to her for guidance. Several hundreds of years later, she is queen to her clan--though not without democracy, the three other matriarchs were established to aid her rule. Of the four matriarchs, Queen Sola is the most open to the foreign and has had many a traveler within her domain. Her clothing is thus unique--arid and free, in comparison to the long gowns of the rest of her court. However, she is no less adorned.

But before her life and status as Queen Matriarch, she was a simple leader to the few roaming dragons from near and far. At that time, there was only a paw-ful of them. At her side was a handsome, charcoal guardian. Noctis was an aloof sort of dragon, the first Sola came across when she departed the realm of Light at a young age. Noctis' mystery and air drew her in, and Sola's illuminated nature kept Noctis dazzled. The two were literally night and day, but bonded over the thrill of exploration. The Search for a charge, as so many guardians do alone, was made into a joint effort by the pair. Never was there found a singular charge, but many. Sola's wings stretched over her collection of dragons, accumulating them into the beginnings of her future lair.

While the small group traveled, Sola eventually grew pregnant with Noctis' hatchling. Magness, a tiny, dark guardian like his father, was born during an especially cold winter. The caravan of dragons settled during this time, remaining under the protection of Sola while Noctis hunted to keep them fed. Winter did not ease, and the local beasts grew all-too aware of the presence of the dragons. When Noctis did not return for several nights, Sola reluctantly left Magness to the care of her traveling clan while she went in search of his father. When finally she found him, his body lay sprawled on the snow, blood splattered about him. He had fallen victim to the beastclan, but still he breathed. Sola, wrought with agony, begged to the Lightweaver, pleading for the relief of her mate. The world was in suspended animation, save for Sola's breath on the frigid air.

B I O G R A P H Y

That night, the night the Lightweaver's shining might carried Noctis into her realm, was the last night of Sola's travels. She swore away careless exploration, refusing to put her clan or son in any further danger. Though she knew Noctis had found sanctuary, she had lost the moon to her sun. Several months of long recovery, her heart would be healed as she watched Magness grow into the stunning echo of his father, safe within a region of the Sunbeam Ruins.

By the time he was an adolescent, Magness had developed into a strong guardian, like his parents before him. He carried the gentle care for others from his mother, and the reserved nature of his father. Magness often spent time around the ruins; observing, deciphering, and generally acting restless as he dwell around the ancient rubble. It became clear to Sola his aptitude for religious pondering, and longing stares skyward. Magness was being called on. Though colored in the mysterious coloring of his father, his heart was alight with spiritual want. Sola, ever putting others before herself, addressed her only son. She spent a final night, and then a final morning, entwined with her child in a motherly embrace. That morning, for the second time, she watched the power of the Lightweaver sweep away her beloved family.

The two most beloved dragons in her life now dwelled in the warmth of the greatest Sun. For several nights she mourned, turning away any company of her lair--until one particular night. The guardian dreamed, a deep and peaceful dream, perhaps the most peaceful she'd had for a long time. All around she was surrounded by a warm light, and then--"Child of the realm of Light, mourn no longer. The beloved of your life await you, here. They are in the arms of their Mother, and yours. I will grant you many lives to Guard, for your heart is Golden, still. Mourn no longer. The beloved of your life await you....here..."

The golden dream dissipated with the voice, and Sola awoke to a brilliant morning.
