"Ah, hello... Interested in my plants?"

There are few who know much about Mel; the mysterious, almost translucent dragon whose shining scales lack any kind of pigment, and eyes stained red by genetics which should have given him emeralds, not rubies. He lives by the philosophy of a dragon born into the lands of nature, but it's said his egg rolled just a little too far into the Plaguebringer's territory before it hatched. Some called him a changeling, others a freak; but behind a shy exterior hides a heart of gold, which his familiar Alessio hopes to one day bring to the surface.

The clan's witch, Camelia, insists that his infliction is strange; she doesn't have the heart to tell him he is a dragon of plague, and instead refers to him as an 'albino'. While few others in the clan believe her, it helps the out-of-sorts dragon feel at home in the lands of light. Today he tends to a garden of fungi, plants, and herbs, harvesting them to be used in Ignis's potions and Canadensis's prayers.

While seeking new plants and fungi to add to his collection, Mel ran into a kindred spirit by the name of Gwenvael who saw promise in his botanical abilities and invited him to one of his lectures. Despite having no scholarly background to speak of, Mel eagerly attended every lecture he could get his claws on, scrawling messy notes with his claws onto parchment despite barely being able to read and rushing home to put all of his new knowledge to the test.

In the process of experimentation, Mel discovered that plants he had accidentally killed made excellent fertiliser and those that survived were hardy and resistant to disease in a way few wild specimens he'd found could match. In the same messily inked scrawl on old parchment he created notes - notes which he bound with care using fine threads and decorative baubles with assistance from Aroh to present to the one who had taught him so much.
