Backstory

Sitting atop the highest plateau she could find to observe the windswept plains she had called home for all too long, Ripple realized that change was desperately needed. The dancing of the whirlwinds was all too orderly, too peaceful, too tranquil. The Windswept Plateau was no place for the massive Ridgeback. So she left.
Outside of the territory of the Wind Flight, Ripple met new creatures, Beastclan members she had never even heard of, as few were brave enough to travel into the tempestuous land of the Wind dragons.
For a short period of time, she befriended a few Harpy and Raptorik Beastclan members who were familiar with her former territory and agreed that it was not the place that they wanted to live. Taking her in as a family friend, the group told her stories of the past, of former civilizations, of the war between dragons and Beastclan and of their great leader, Talona. Ripple, intrigued by these stories, agreeing that dragons were in the wrong and the Beastclans had their territory stolen desperately wanted to meet the great Talona. With the help of her Beastclan friends, Ripple found a Raptorik warrior who claimed he was one of Talona's most trusted warriors and could bring the Ridgeback to her. Ripple eagerly agreed and trusted the warrior, believing someone so close to Talona could do her no harm.
Word spread quickly from the warrior to other Raptoriks and to Talona that a gigantic, fierce Ridgeback was coming to meet with her, one that believed in her cause. Skeptical of her intent, the Raptorik warrior that was to lead Ripple to his leader set a trap the night before Ripple was to meet Talona, one that would bring the great Ridgeback to her knees and make her howl for forgiveness before Talona. Believing that this would make his leader proud, he led the all too trusting Ripple right into an ambush of Harpy and other Raptorik warriors who clawed, speared and shredded the Ridgeback's hide to bits as she begged for mercy. Ripple was brought to the brink of death as she finally began to understand why her dragon brethren murdered and destroyed these creatures daily. To Ripple, they were cruel and relentless monsters who deserved nothing but death.
And so, she snapped.
No longer allowing herself to be pummeled by the warriors that shredded her scales, she tore them to pieces with a new found power, fueled by rage. As she finished off the last of the Beastclan scum that had tried to take her life, the Raprotik warrior who had set up the trap cowered before her in fear, begging for forgiveness. Ripple, understanding that he was the one who had led the attack denied him any sort of mercy and swiftly decapitated the Raptorik warrior, clutching his skull in her claws as she flew away from the site of the slaughter. At the edge of the Scarred Wasteland, she landed, still on the brink of death and before she lay down to rest, skinned the head and placed the bird skull atop her own, wearing the former head of her traitorous acquaintance as a trophy.
Days passed as the massive creature slept, her hide slowly healing from the brutal attack. A week after she had fallen into her coma, she awoke, starving. Believing her malnourished body appeared as a skeleton, the famished dragon cast aside her former name, Ripple, and christened herself, DecayedSkeleton. She hunted in the Scarred Wasteland for months, terminating any Beastclan members that dared to even allow their scent to be caught by her. Time passed, and DecayedSkeleton decided to find someplace to settle down. She quickly tracked down a rapidly growing lair and, not wanting to simply join it, beat the two Nocturnes that led the clan into submission, taking over as the leader.
She was the alpha.

Current Life and Den
DecayedSkeleton lives in a gigantic tunnel system a few miles beneath the main den with SacredGalaxy, him being one of the few clanmates she can tolerate. She leads her clan with an iron talon, taking objections to her rule from no one. She organizes daily hunting parties and border patrols, making sure her clan is well fed and protected. Challenging her leadership is almost unheard of, as the two of the three dragons that ever did challenge her authority ended up six feet under. The third, an Imperial named AutumnFlight was so badly disfigured by her and the late onset of a particularly nasty plague that he barely looks dragon anymore and wears a bird skull headpiece to hide his mutilated face, gifted to him by DecayedSkeleton as she came to respect his will to survive even after being beaten within an inch of his life.
DecayedSkeleton, as heartless as she seems has a soft spot for her sweater wearing companion, SacredGalaxy, often confiding in him whenever there is a problem that she is unsure how to solve. Her Ridgeback friend seems to have some sort of perpetual cold and on freezing nights during the winter, will occasionally snuggle up against her friend to keep him warm.

Personality
DecayedSkeleton is strict and borderline heartless to her clanmates, but in all honestly really cares for her clan and their wellbeing. She fights so valiantly and ferociously to protect them. She snaps at them and scolds them to keep their guards up. She teaches them to be wary of newcomers and to not be as trusting as the had so foolishly been those few years ago. DecayedSkeleton is extremely patriotic to both her Flight and the Plaguebringer and believes exaltation is the highest honor that could possibly be bestowed upon a dragon. She is also quite prideful, not excessively, but to a healthy extend and wears the skulls of her greatest foes on her body as if they were trophies. Her choice of apparel commands respect from all dragons she meets, whether they are familiar with her or not, and by Plaguebringer, does she deserve it.
