Many have heard that heated retort from Goffic, whenever they pointed out how strange it was for a dragon born in the Southern Icefield to be so intently studying the technique of Shadow magics and the culture of the Shadowbinder's followers. Since a small hatchling, he was more drawn to the trickster's Flight than that of his own, to the point of claiming he received visions in dreams of the Shadowbinder speaking to him and calling up floods of black slime to envelop and caress him.
Whether he actually received these dreams straight from the deity or not was a topic of much contention, and eventually Goffic left his family without a second thought to pursue magical studies in the Tangled Wood.

It was there, learning under the native Shadow mages, where he struck up a friendship with Dallas. While Dallas far surpassed Goffic in their studies, having the advantage of being a member of the Flight by birth, they became as close as brothers even with the occasional bouts of jealousy and bitterness from Goffic. After graduating from their mentors' care, the journeymen stayed together as they traveling around the Wood and eventually were called to Sideris-on-Riverbank by Coyote.

Goffic still retains some noticeable envy towards his friend, who received the post of Shadow priest for the clan's Shrine Tree while Goffic remains a "lowly" gatherer and general clan member. However, he tries to avoid causing unnecessary friction between them and even helps tend to the Shrine at times. Many visitors don't realize he's an Ice dragon at first, especially when Goffic activates his custom spell to alter his eye color. However, this spell is only temporary and so it only becomes a conversation (read: argument) starter when everyone's gathered in the tavern late at night.
