Years had he walked to find his charge.
After all, what was a guardian without something to guard?

While it wasn’t his, he found himself caring deeply to a handful of dragons and vowed his life for them. He fought tooth and claw, but the war didn’t last an eternity — and soon he was left with nothing to throw his life for.

None of his family was in any danger, no battles were started on the horizon.

He was at a loss.

Until he stopped looking for someone to protect, and instead something.
Hardened gaze had fallen upon a single flower.

It’s petals ripped, and it’s leaves singed.

A hatchling had been using it as a target board, and an uncharacteristic roar fell from the maw of the ice bound guardian.
His body placed over the flora, and the hatchling scurried as fast as their legs could carry -- whimpering as they fled to find an older dragon.

Zevran huffed and made a show of flashing his horns, curling around the patch of flowers with a growl rumbling his throat.

His had found his charge, and he would so die before anybody touched it.
