So far what I have on his character is that he's a beacon for shadow magic, and his visions helped his clan prosper. He was treated like a king, and showered with gifts and praise. Eventually they became greedy, and pushed for more and more. Asmodeus was not ready, and the power overwhelmed him. He can no longer control his visions, so he wears the eye mask to suppress them.
