Do not be fooled by Tubby's cute name. Tubby, Custard's mate, is one of the most feared and avoided dragons in the clan. A quiet and cold dragon, Tubby spends his days with his mate or outside the clan's premises, rarely communicating with others. When he does it quickly becomes clear that Tubby can be called insane. He is not right in the head due to whatever happened in his past before he found the Windwalkers. Tubby is rarely found without his bone armor. No one has asked just what creature the armor is made of, but some healers have remarked that certain bones seem very much like those of dragons. Tubby is often seen leaving the lair and coming back with a bloodied muzzle. He is feared more than many other strong, violent and dangerous dragons of the clan mainly due to his unpredictable nature. One minute he's quiet and cold, the next he is violently screeching and won't calm down until Custard, his mate, comes and soothes him. Why Custard, everyone's little cheery girl, accepted Tubby's courtship so readily is a mystery often debated over. The possibilities of mind magic, blackmail and violence have been presented, but everyone fears him too much to ask Tubby himself. But those who have seen the kindness with which he treats her and how fiercely he protects her from harm know he means her no harm and loves her from the bottom of his heart. |

He dotes on her like a princess and there is nothing he wouldn't do for her. He's always there for Custard when her mask brakes and is frustrated that she won't come to him more often. Tubby doesn't understand just how bad his mental problems are, that she doesn’t want to add to that load. He doesn’t know that his sadistic tendencies and fascinations with death and blood are not healthy, that he shouldn’t be aimlessly killing whoever he comes across outside the clan. He doesn't understand that his morals are skewed, that his brain functions differently, that certain behavior is frowned upon. What he does understand is that he is different in mind, but he doesn't care. He has Custard, his little treasure, and doesn't need anyone else. |
