| deepwoods enchanter |  There's a grove near the river that the clan's tundras favor because it is particularly cool. This was where Posei was one evening when Eidheann suddenly slipped out of the shadows and into their midst. He showed himself so rarely that none of them knew what to say, and they could only stand and stare as he placed a bundle of leaves on the ground with extreme gentleness, then looked pleadingly at Posei. She uncovered the leaves and found, to her shock, a sleeping tundra hatchling. Eidheann stomped the ground to show that the hatchling could not hear, nodded when Posei indicated her understanding, and disappeared into the forest. She was his daughter, of course, that much was clear early on - as a hatchling her control over plants unparalleled by even the stoutest Nature acolytes. Eidheann knew, deep down, that Phoebe was only with him to take advantage of his magic. He could no longer deny it, not when there was a hatchling involved, and the hatchling was his, and her mother would not hesitate to use her the way she used him. The clan's tundras were gentle and kind, and Posei had her own powerful magical connection with the river, which was after all itself a part of the forest. And she was fierce - she was the only dragon he could trust to protect his daughter from Phoebe and foster her magical abilities. Posei and the other tundras came to call the hatchling Shamrock. Shamrock grew into a formidable magical force, though she is painfully shy and doesn't socialize much outside of Posei, her best friend and crush Grace, and - against her will - Eileen, whose loudness frightens her but who has proved an excellent teacher. She's deaf and communicates mostly via a sign language using claws and wings, which all of the tundras and many other dragons have learned for her benefit. She sees little of her father but is happy when he does show up, as he never expects her to speak and has his own wisdom - she can control the forest far better than he can, but she hasn't yet learned to listen to it the way he does. Though she feels drawn to her mother, she knows enough to stay away from her... usually. As for her younger sister Astilbe, Shamrock is not quite sure what to think.
