Biography
Monarch is aptly named, as the leader and firm hand guiding the permanent members of the Remaining. Though she was born to a Plague clan, she has been blind from birth, and was abandoned shortly afterward to the harsh wastes of the Boneyard. Daggersdrawn, then in an ill-fitting but stable match with Amarone, found her and brought her to the others to raise. Once established as an adult within the clan, Monarch spoke with Daggersdrawn and Amarone at length, and eventually took him as a mate, freeing Amarone to pursue her interests in alchemy.
Throughout her life, Monarch has collected a variety of aids and marks of her status. Her earrings are enchanted with a scrying spell that gives her a low-level empathetic connection with the beings around her, allowing her to use their spatial awareness to survive in the Wasteland and Coliseum. It's not perfect, though, and the scarring across her hips and abdomen is a testament to that. Both the Rotclaw that pulses on her back and shoulders and the Plague Sprite that flits around her do their best to act as guides, but Monarch tends towards recklessness and the necessary arrogance required of a Fae commanding a clan of Guardians, Mirrors, Tundras, and boisterous hatchlings. Her wing bangles and drapes are a concession to that; they are meant to catch attention, so that the other dragons will be aware of her presence at all times.
Monarch has a headstrong and perhaps bloodthirsty nature, but she also genuinely cares for each of the Remaining, especially Daggersdrawn and Amarone, and tries her best to provide them with what they need or want. Radia is mentoring her and will eventually cede all clan duties to her, to focus solely on training Boneblades to send to the Plaguebringer.
