No one is quite certain where Volker came from, who he is or was, or what prompted his decision to end his journey (for now) in the Empyrean lands - all of this Volker keeps to himself, dodging any attempt to probe him for his story with infallible charisma and a disarming smile.

He is paradoxical to a fault and gives out little information about himself while expressing extreme interest in the affairs of others, often asking too many questions for his own good and pushing for answers. While he gets on some people's nerves, he seems to know how much he can get away with by flashing a grin and perhaps enjoys the thrill of aggravating others. He can easily diffuse a tense situation with some playful teasing and a well-placed joke, though his sense of humour is a touch twisted and often at the expense of someone else.

Where Abyss is the stalwart protector, Volker has become something of an older brother figure to younger members of the clan, who are drawn to his smug attitude, cool nonchalance, and relaxed and open demeanor. He has an affinity for botany, potions, poisons, and other mind-altering substances and no one knows for sure if they're safe, but Volker insists they are and no one has died yet, so perhaps his word counts for something even if he won't give up his secrets.
