Strength in body and mind

As a child, Nina was fascinated by feats of physical skill. Warriors, dancers, and aerobats were the kinds of dragons she looked up to most. One old warrior in particular managed to snag and keep her child's attention span long enough to teach her a few things -- sparring techniques simplified for a young dragon, mostly. The old warrior also imparted pearls of wisdom to her, and gave young Nina a view of the world as one ultimately just and kind providing one worked hard enough and did right by others.

Nina believed in that worldview wholeheartedly. Certainly her old warrior lived up to that standard, being as noble as any dragon she'd ever seen or heard of. It was quite a shock, then, when upon a routine scouting mission the old warrior was felled by an ambush of harpies, and Nina got her first taste of injustice in the world. Grief over her loss left her bitter, unwilling to believe that the world was all that just and kind if one so worthy could die senselessly.

Nina kept to her childhood training, and worked from then until now to become the strongest and swiftest she could be. Now, Nina is a night scout and hunter for the clan. Her successes have given her fearlessness and confidence, though she remains pessimistic on the general state of the world.

While she's proud of her accomplishments, Nina secretly worries her skills will attract the attention of a young dragon or two among her clan, and she knows death can best even the most powerful warrior. So she keeps her tongue as sharp as her claws, and dashes whatever undue optimism she comes across with a healthy dose of cold, hard reality -- in the hopes of sparing those around her the heartbreak she once felt herself, so long ago.
