Biography

Beryl
Necromancer

Beryl met Tanzanite while the Guardian was on the search for her charge. At this time, Beryl was researching a way to reverse the magic that brought Imperial dragons back from the dead. The two of them had intended to remain in the Scarred Wasteland for the rest of their days, but this plan changed when one of Beryl's magical experiments exploded in his face and brought an end to his short life. Distraught by this event, Tanzanite stood guard over his body for a day, fully intending to exalt herself in order to regain her honor, but that was when her once-mate began to breathe again. The three then fled the Wasteland in fear of risking the scorn of Plague-born dragons and the wrath of the Plaguebringer herself.

Beryl is seen as a social recluse by others in the clan- especially during the winter. In reality, the Southern winter cold can cause his body to freeze over, but he does not dare return to a warmer climate and face the risk of his body decaying further. When venturing out of the den he shares with Tanzanite, he hides his face which was burned to the bone in the explosion that killed him. He does not like to go outside, however, as one result of his undead status requires that he eat the flesh of other dragons to continue existing (which Tanzanite secretly provides for him in the form of defeated territory intruders). He has delved into the study of Necromancy in hopes of curing and healing himself, but his attempts remain unsuccessful.
