As the second born, it wasn't originally Duchess' place to eventually succeed her father, it was her older brother, Roxas, who was the one destined to lead. But one day, a falling out happened between he and their father, and Roxas abandoned their name, leaving the role to his sister instead. Duchess, though she kept it inside, felt somewhat responsible for what happened between them, as she knew Roxas had taken to Sally and did not dissuade him from introducing her to their father, when, thinking back, she should've known what would transpire.

Being the new heir was quite her calling. She socialized at her father's gatherings, charmed others with her eloquence, and created an image that said that her family may be able to back up its arrogant claims. Those were things she did even before her role as heiress, and were simply who she was.


Duchess is very much her father's joy. She's as sociable, behaved, and sophisticated as her noble family represents, and takes her standing very seriously. She has made an effort to learn arts she feels a female of her lifestyle should know, and has a charming personality to go with it. Even so, she's not at all conceited and keeps an open-mind to other ways of living, though understands what hers is. Despite having the respect of many and the love of her family, Duchess does harbor a sense of longing for motherhood, as she has had few offspring, none of which having stayed long.

Things took a turn for the better, however, when Mufasa returned to her one day carrying a hatchling. The child had been feasting on the fisherman's catch when he was found, and Mufasa thought to bring him to Duchess for the couple to parent. Overjoyed, Duchess took in the small Snapper, Kirby.

Somewhat predictably, Hans, Duchess' father, was cross with the idea. He took much pride in the family's image and rejected the inclusion of the child, but Duchess, however, did not yield on the matter. Hans relented, not wanting to repeat how he drove his son away, but insisted that Kirby be passed over for the title of lord.

Hans
Duchess' father and head of the family. Hans shares many interests with his daughter, giving them an easy relationship, though they do differ on more sensitive subjects. Being his new heir, Hans has spent much time with her in order to make certain she was ready for her duties, which, he can admit, was unnecessary, as she's always embodied his ideals of an heir.


Kairi
Mother to Duchess and the voice of reason within the family. While more like her father, Duchess,
like all her siblings, finds Kairi easiest to talk to.


Roxas
Original heir and Duchess' older brother. Growing up the two frequently confided in one another,
and, having reached adulthood, little has changed. Living apart on different platforms has done nothing to lessen this bond, neither has their role reversal. While Duchess has always been the more patient and professional one, she grew up looking to Roxas for support, which he had always given her. Even after forfeiting his position, Roxas encourages her to carry on his former duty, as he knows it was something she, not him, was born for.
