ABOUTxxxxxWhat doesn't kill you will come back to finish the job

Rumor has it that Oddity's name was originally an insult, used by her old clan that thought her gift of magic was a kind of curse, something not meant to be. Whether this is true or not, the name certainly fits her. Her personality can switch in seconds, going from a completely normal, if a bit hyper, Spiral, to an insane necromancer threatening to raise an army of the dead. Of course, she's never actually followed through with any of her unusual threats, though most of the clan retains a healthy mix of fear and respect for her. Has anyone ever seen her attack another dragon? No. But are they willing to risk it? Not a chance.

Oddity, like many dragons in the clan, is a bit strange. Unlike other dragons however, she completely embraces this fact. Born with the ability of magic, a trait not usually found in Spirals, she quickly left her birth clan in Shadow and her parents who could not understand her ability. The young hatchling soon found herself deep within the Tangled Woods, lost and alone. This part of the forest, if it could even be called that, was known to those who lived nearby as the Screaming Pines. There were many stories and legends told about the place, though none had ventured too far inside for years. The tales told that long ago, a dragon had been born with a terrible power, a command over magic that rivaled that of the deities themselves. The dragon had quickly gone insane from power and greed, his already dark Shadow eyes fading into pure black. It was said that the dragon had been locked deep within the woods, bound to a powerful tree not even his magic could destroy, far away from where his insanity and power could hurt others. The legends told that to this day, the dragon was still there, screaming in his insanity and bloodlust, and that on cold, dark, winter nights, he could be heard echoing on the wind.
How much of the tale is true and how much is exaggeration may never be known, but at least part of the legend must have been true, for when the fully grown Spiral emerged from the woods years later, she was changed beyond belief. Her scales practically glowed with power, her magic amplified by whatever she had encountered in the forest. However, her power seemed...different. Different from the kind of power the dragon of legend had held. Hers seemed like more of a gift than a curse. In fact, when she emerged from the woods, nearby dragons spread rumors that she had met with the Shadowbinder herself. For with her was a Shadow Sprite, a familiar said to be sent by the deity herself to watch over her dragons.
No dragon except Oddity knows what truly happened, and she has never told anyone, not even her mate. However, tales of her magic have become almost a legend, and she is said to be able to control any type of magic, not just Shadow. Some even say she can speak with the dead, or even bring them back to life. As such, she is often known as the Necromancer, and Oddity herself has never denied the rumors. She usually uses her powers for good, but sometimes, when casting magic, it is said that a certain glint appears in her eyes, something almost unnatural. The eyes of a dragon gone insane. And Oddity was ever one to deny the rumors.
